General: The heartwood is a pinkish-reddish brown. The sapwood is white to light brown. Both are similar in appearance to white oak with a slightly less pronounced figure, due to smaller rays. Red Oak is mostly straight grained with a coarse texture. Red Oak can be stained with a wide range of finishes and offers great wear-resistance.
